Don’t Forget About Water
Electricity is only half of this project.
Your washer still needs water.

Self-sufficiency doesn’t have to be all or nothing.
You can have a regular refrigerator and preserve food.
You can have city water and collect emergency water.
You can have a furnace and keep alternative ways to stay warm.
And you can own a big household washing machine while keeping a small portable washing machine for off grid living as a backup.
Every system you learn to operate independently makes your household a little less vulnerable when normal conveniences aren’t available.
