Halloween isn’t just about costumes and candy—it’s also about making fun treats that bring the season to life. That’s why I couldn’t resist making these Boo Berry Pies. They’re flaky, fruity, and just a little spooky—perfect for a fall party or a cozy family night at home. With just a few simple ingredients and a ghost-shaped cookie cutter, you’ll have the cutest little hand pies ready to haunt your dessert table.

Why These Pies Are Adorable & Fun for Fall

There’s something magical about making food that looks as good as it tastes. These Boo Berry Pies are not only delicious but also downright adorable with their little ghost shapes and blueberry “boo”-berry filling peeking through. They’re the kind of treat that makes both kids and grown-ups smile. Plus, fall is the season for pies, and turning a classic comfort dessert into a Halloween-themed hand pie just makes it that much more festive and fun. It does not matter if you use pie filling or blueberry jam; the sweet, rich filling pairs perfectly with flaky golden crust.

Ingredients

Instructions

Prep your Crust

Roll out your pie crust on a lightly floured surface.

Cut out the Ghosts

Use the ghost-shaped cookie cutter to cut as many pieces as possible. With a 9-inch crust, I was able to get 5 ghost pies, plus one circle hand pie by folding over leftover dough.

Add the Filling

I dabbed on some blueberry pie filling and then spread it up to the head, leaving space on the edges for sealing the dough.

Place half the ghost cutouts on a parchment-lined baking sheet (I just used my ungreased, well-seasoned cast-iron pan. Spoon 1–2 teaspoons of blueberry filling or jam into the center of each. Be careful not to overfill.

Cutting Out the Eyes and Mouth

Use the end of a wooden spoon or a straw to make small eyes and a mouth for your ghost.

Top and Seal

Place this ghost cutout on top, then press the edges together with a fork or pinch with your fingers.

Egg Wash and Sugar

Brush each pie with a beaten egg and sprinkle lightly with sugar for sparkle and crunch.

Bake

Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15–18 minutes, or until golden brown.

Cool and Serve

Let cool slightly before serving—though they’re delicious warm!
