  • 1 small mixing bowl for the streusel topping mixture
  • 1 loaf pan

Ingredients

For the Pear Bread Batter

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2up cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 2 cups peeled and diced pears (about 2 pears)

For the Streusel Topping

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup cold unsalted butter, cubed

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

Preparing the Pear Bread Batter

  • Start by peeling the pears with a vegetable peeler, removing the skin completely. Then, cut them into small, bite-sized pieces.
  • In a large bowl, mix the butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and sour cream until well combined. Add in the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar, and chopped pears and mix well.
  • Grease a loaf pan with a bit of butter or cooking spray to ensure your bread doesn't stick.
  • Spread your prepared pear bread batter into the pan.

Mixing the Streusel Topping

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and cinnamon until well combined.
  • Then, using your fingers or a pastry cutter, cut in the cold cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Then, sprinkle your streusel topping over the pear filling.

Baking the Streusel Pear Bread

  • Place your assembled streusel pear bread in the middle rack. Bake it for about 30-40 minutes, or until it turns golden brown and emits a tantalizing aroma. Keep an eye on it to avoid any burnt surprises.
  • Once it's done, remove it from the oven and let it cool in the pan for a few minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
