Ingredients
  

For the Dough

  • ½ cup sourdough starter
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 tbsp melted butter
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • 2 ¾ cukps all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp baking powder

For the Topping

  • 4 tbsp melted butter
  • 4 tbsp parmesan cheese
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 tsp dried herbs

Instructions
 

Combining the Ingredients

  • Combine your sourdough starter, water, butter, sugar, salt, flour, and baking powder, and give it a thorough mix. You want all the ingredients to come together into a sticky, shaggy mess.
  • Dust your hands with flour, turn that dough out onto a clean work surface, and start kneading.
  • Cover the dough and let it bulk ferment for up to 8 to 12 hours or overnight.

Dividing and Shaping the Dough into Breadstick Form

  • Start by dividing your dough into portions, depending on how thick you want your breadsticks.
  • Then, take each piece and gently roll it out into a long, thin strip.

Preheating the Oven and Preparing the Baking Sheet

  • Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
  • Prepare a baking pan by greasing it and placing your breadsticks evenly spaced out.
  • Bake for approximately 15-20 minutes. Keep an eye on them as they bake, adjusting the time accordingly.
  • You want the breadsticks to turn golden brown with a slight crunch on the outside and a soft, chewy texture on the inside.

For the Topping

  • In a small bowl, combine garlic, herbs, butter, salt, and parmesan until well combined.
  • Once the breadsticks come out of the oven, brush them with the mixed ingredients.
